Holidays and Life Relationships

Today is Valentines Day 2011. I don't know everyone's opinion but I don't like how today has become really commercialized over the years, decades or however long it's been. Sure it is nice to give and receive gifts like flowers, candy, etc. but there is so much more to it. I have actually heard of businesses closing on this day every year because they recognize it as a national holiday. That is kind of ridiculous. Most days we celebrate through the year have some sort of religious or national aspect to it. What really gets me is that they (government) are trying to take away our religious holidays. Did you know they actually want to change the name of Christmas to wintermas so as not to offend anyone? I actually get offended when anyone tells me happy holidays. When someone says that to me, I think silently screw you and then say back to them Merry Christmas!! I don't care if someone gets offended by that but that is what that season is all about, the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Hence the name CHRISTmas.

But anyway, holidays are a time for celebration and a time of togetherness. I don't really consider valentines day a holiday because a lot of people are alone and there is not much togetherness going on there. I was married for close to 9 years and my ex-wife and I spent the last 4 valentine days apart. But that was a personal choice. I hope that everyone who is married, has a boyfriend/girlfriend or any significant other are able to spend this day together at some point. Be thankful for whoever you have in your personal life. They chose to be with you for a reason no matter what that reason is. I just hope that one day I will find someone that makes me as happy as I know most of my friends are. She is out there and eventually God will put her in my path if He hasn't already and I just don't know it yet.

I have much love for all my friends and family and I know that I have been blessed by all of you who are in my life. You have each touched me and had some sort of impact on my life even if I just met you last year, last week, or yesterday. I have added 6 or 7 new friends or more on Facebook in the last 4 months mainly because of shows I have done at Sikeston Little Theatre. These people are great!!!

Jesus loves you all and so do I. Remember to celebrate the holidays for what they really mean and if you want to consider today a holiday, then more power to you! Much love to all!!! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!
